Dorie is still searching for the home best suited for her energy level! Please read further, prior to completing an application. JRT's are not meant for everybody, here's why:
Jack Russell Terriers...
*are first and foremost hunting dogs.
*LOVE to dig, LOVE to run and LOVE to bark
*are a big dog in a little body.
*are VERY intelligent
*are often aggressive with other dogs, especially the same sex.
*are NOT a non-shedding breed.
*require firm, consistent discipline.
*can become very possessive of their owner.
*are commonly known to harass other small pets or cats.
*remain active well into their average 15-year life span.
*require at least basic obedience training.
*absolutely need a securely fenced yard.
*are NOT recommended as apartment or condo dogs.
*can be very destructive if left unattended, or if they get bored.
*are NOT recommended for small children
*thrive on lots of mental and physical exercise
*enjoy life and live it to the fullest.
Adorable Dorie is best suited for a very active lifestyle family or individual willing to spend 24hrs a day playing with her. She is a wonderful tempermented dog, and does enjoy cuddling under the covers at night time, once she has exhausted her energy throughout the day! She is house and crate trained, and great with older children, she would love a submissive canine buddy run around crazy with. A Saturday event of flyball or agility would be like Heaven to Dorie!
