UPDATE 2/12/11: Just in time for Valentine's Day, Jenna is fully recovered and enjoying a normal puppy life, romping and playing til her little heart's content with her foster buddies! Jenna will suffer no lasting side effects from the virus and will never be burdened with the virus again, so now life is good and she only awaits her own forever family who promises to spoil her rotten! She would be great in almost any home... best with older children, as she startles easily. She is great with other pets, is learning her boundaries when playing a little rough, since she wasn't taught how to play fairly as a baby, but she is very submissive, so if her canine buddies tell her she's too much, she will lay down and submit to their request. She is crate trained and house trained. Jenna is very good at alerting you when someone is at the door, she is learning to be more social with strangers and not fear them so much. She is super comfortable in her home environment, a true joy to have around! She will need continued work on becoming a social butterfly, the spring weather will allow a great excuse to get out and introduce her to the world of happy humans! Don't miss out on this pup, so deserving of the good life they all should have! 1/5/2011: The presents are unwrapped and the cookies are all eaten-but this young girl is facing the fight of her life in this new year. Jenna is a beautiful little Black Lab/German Short-Haired Pointer mixed pup fighting the Parvo Virus. This contagious virus causes her to have extreme vomiting and dysentery, weakness, lethargy and death if left untreated. She came to vet clinic shortly after Christmas, after fighting the virus for 6 days and barely hanging on for her life. Her owner, unable to afford treatment, chose to have her put to sleep to end her suffering. Thankfully, our director came to her rescue and through donated funds, Genesis allowed treatment to begin to help Jenna fight this long, enduring battle to live. After 5 days of hospitalized care with our veterinarian, Jenna was released to her foster home for continued care and now has to be quarantined to prevent contamination to other dogs–so she is not allowed to be with other animals for 4 weeks. Human contact is also kept to a minimum and severe sanitary measures must be taken to stop this virus from spreading. While you are making your resolutions to be a better person- think about Jenna. Can you imagine Jenna’s sad little life—no animals friends, no loving attention. Jenna is asking you to think of her in this new year. Her medical care has came with a heavy price, but she is so deserving! Donations are always welcome to help with her care. With your help she will beat this virus and lead a happy and healthy life this beautiful little dog deserves. Dig deep into your heart and look into her eyes – give Jenna the gift of a donation to save her life. More about JennaGood with Dogs, Good with Cats Sponsors: Sandy & Mike W. Video of Jenna:
